TravelTelevision Seeking Volunteers for the U.S. Open

TravelTelevision.org has been selected as one of the nonprofit organizations to work at the upcoming U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club June 13-18, 2011. Volunteers are needed to join our team of volunteers to staff the concession stands. It’s a fun and unique opportunity to see the U.S. Open from a different perspective! Please go to our website and click on the US Open Volunteer tab. Shifts start at 6 AM, 9AM, or noon. Volunteers enjoy free admission to the tournament, parking, lunch, and a chance to see the action on the links before or after their shift. You’ll see your favorite golfers on the most pristine course in the Washington, Metro area! You can work as many shifts as you’d like, enjoying your time on the course for one, two, or every day of the tournament.

TravelTelevision will be stationed at the 16th and 17th holes of course. Be a part of the fun and the action and volunteer to work with us. We’ll see you there!

Production News

TravelTelevision has recently wrapped production of our fourth year thanks to the incredibly professional and dedicated staff of volunteers at Montgomery Community Television in Rockville, MD. This year, TravelTelevision focused on international volunteerism, anchored by our coverage of the 50
th anniversary of the establishment of the Peace Corps. We also partnered with Building Bridges Coalition to highlight US organizations providing international volunteer opportunities.

The July 2011 episode will reprise the international stories, while August will focus on our accounts from the Gulf Coast this past season, as Hurricane Katrina passes its sixth year mark. Incredibly, more than half the homes destroyed by that force of nature have yet to be rebuilt or restored. In September, our 4
th anniversary program will include the best stories and segments from the past season. In October TravelTelevision will return with new episodes that highlight volunteer travel throughout the United States.

If you have a story idea or an experience you’d like to share, please contact us. Your idea is only a camera click away from becoming a part of TravelTelevision.org, which airs across the United States and abroad.
